Roberta Troutt Akins, age 88, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.   She is survived by her sons, David Akins of Bowling Green, Ky., Wayne Akins of Bethpage, Mike (Peggy) Akins of Westmoreland; sister, Maidelle Bell of Westmoreland; brothers, Carl (Christina) Troutt of Gallatin, Ramie (Glenda) Troutt of Westmoreland; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Smiley and Lolar Perry Troutt; husband, Paul Moore Akins; son, Lloyd Neal Akins; sisters, Mary Lou Troutt, Myrtle Troutt, Minnie Norris Ray, Dean McClard, JoAnn Born; brothers, Leroy Troutt, Jack Troutt, Cantrell Troutt, Eugene Troutt.  Visitation is 6 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2010, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Duffer, Bro. Daryl Braswell and Bro. Eugene May officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.  Mrs. Akins was retired a retired nurse and worked at Highland Hospital and Sumner Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Providence General Baptist Church.
Ernest Blackwell, age 65, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his son, Tony (Cynthia) Blackwell of Westmoreland; sister, Elizabeth Rickert of Anderson, S.C.; brother, Richard Blackwell of Clinton, S.C.; grandchildren, Destiny Blackwell of Westmoreland, Cody Blackwell of Westmoreland, Jacob Blackwell of Westmoreland.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest E. and Agnes Green Blackwell; son, Michael Glenn Blackwell; grandson, Michael Keith Blackwell.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Barber officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.  Mr. Blackwell was a security guard with Pinkerton Security Company.
Nicky Ray Carter, age 37, of Westmoreland, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his residence.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Ruth Cannon Carter of Westmoreland; brothers, Ronald (Christina) Carter of Westmoreland, Mickey (Louise) Carter of Miami, Fla., Rocky (Betty) Carter of Westmoreland.  He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Hudson.  Visitation is 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Mays officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.
Lana Jane Caruthers, age 59, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, in Nashville, Tenn.  She is survived by her parents, Billy Ray and Norma Taylor Caruthers of Westmoreland; sister, Jill (Mike) Troutt of Westmoreland; nephew, Will (Brandi) Troutt of Westmoreland; great niece, Avery Grace Troutt of Westmoreland.  Visitation is 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Friday.  Funeral service is 3 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Sid Durham officiating.  Interment is at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Mike Troutt, Will Troutt, Ronald Troutt, Steve Carr, Ralph Creasy and Billy Whitson.  Ms. Caruthers was a member of Westmoreland First Baptist Church. She retired from the State of Tennessee Transportation Department.
Larry Wayne Cates, age 69, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his sister, Carol (Don) Wilkerson Westmoreland; several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernie T. and Vangie Lee Angela Cates; brothers, Leon Cates, Collins Cates, Billy Cates, Jimmy Cates, Thomas Cates, Donald Cates, John Lewis Cates and Harold Cates; sisters, Frances White and Minnie Troutt.  Visitation is 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Sunday.  Funeral service is 3 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Key officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.  Mr. Cates serviced his country in the U.S. Marines, and he retired from Chrysler Corporation after having worked for a number of years.
Infant Leland Cole Chance, age 10 months, of Bethpage, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010.  He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Lori Chance of Bethpage; brothers, Justin Chance of Cottontown, Austin Entrekin of Lebanon, Johnathon Chance of Cottontown, Daniel Bailey of Portland, Daniel Chance, Jr., of Bethpage; sisters, Trystan Counts of Jasper, Tenn., Jasmine Chance of Cottontown, Trinity Chance of Bethpage; grandparents, Leland (Teresa) Follin, Jr., of Oklahoma; great grandmothers, Alice Vasques of Portland, Sarah Follin of Mississippi, Amarilla Rowland of Gallatin.  Visitation is 12 noon until 1:45 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Woodard Funeral Home.  Graveside service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Bro. Doug Parks officiating.  Interment is at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make memorial contributions in the form of donations to the Leland Chance Memorial Fund at the Westmoreland Citizen’s Bank.
Cecil Marty Cherry, age 53, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at University Medical Center.  He is survived by his brother, Carl Matthews of Riverview, Fla.; aunts, Mae Moss of Westmoreland, Rose Huntsman of Lafayette.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Lee Hughes Cherry.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until service time, Sunday, January 31, 2010.  Funeral service is 4 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Junior Hughes officiating.  Interment is at Caldwell Cemetery.  Mr. Cherry retired from Brandywood Nursing Home.
Esble Walton Harper, age 84, of Bethpage, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Memphis Baptist Hospital.  She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Dupas of Bethpage, Sandy Slaven of New Orleans, La., Glenda Butler of Bethpage; granddaughter, Cindy Glover of New Orleans, La.; great granddaughter, Star Glover of New Orleans, La.; numerous extended family members.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence S. and Effie Dyer Walton; first husband, Robert R. Harper; second husband, Edward Butler.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until service time, Thursday, February 11, 2010.  Funeral service is 3 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Mitchell officiating.  Interment is Monday, February 15, 2010, at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss.
Fannie Sue Brown Leath, age 81, of Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at her residence.  She is survived by her daughters, Cherry Creasy of Gallatin, Debra Donahoe of Westmoreland; sons, Bobby Troutt of Westmoreland, Billy Duffer of Castalian Springs; brothers, E.C. Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Billy Brown of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Nellie Gray Angel Brown; husband, Billy Augusta Leath; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Carter, Marie Fleming; brother, Junior Brown.  Visitation is 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Wednesday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Emery officiating.  Interment is at Providence Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Bill Duffer, Davis Hunter, Jonathon Hunter, Lee Hunter and Joe Leath.  Mrs. Leath was a member of Providence General Baptist Church. She retired from Genesco Corporation.
Billy Benjamin Pease, age 87, of Bethpage, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his wife, Ruth Woods Pease of Bethpage; daughter, Patricia (Bud) Blankenship of Westmoreland; sons, Benjamin and Michael Pease of Bethpage, Matthew Pease of Bowling Green, Ky.; two grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Dorothy Pease; son, Timothy Pease; brother, Marshall Pease; sister, Ruth Pease.  Visitation is 3 p.m., until 9 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Monday.  Funeral service is 1 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Herbert Franklin and Bro. Brian Morgan officiating.  Interment is at Blue Door Cemetery in Mitchellville, Tenn.  Mr. Pease retired from the U. S. Navy and the Town of Westmoreland.
John Reese, age 81, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his wife, Pauline Reese of Westmoreland; brother, Billy Reese of Bethpage.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thornhill and Linnie Jackson Reese; brother, Herbert Reese; half brothers, Clarence, Clyde, William and Tollie Jackson, Carl Reese; half sisters,  Ruby Reese and Lois Jackson.  Visitation is 2 p.m., until 9 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2009, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Monday, and 10 a.m., until service time Tuesday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Leon Graves officiating.  Interment is at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Gallatin.  Mr. Reese retired from the Texas Boot Factory.
Margaret Agnes Adcock Robertson, age 80, of Bethpage, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at her residence.  She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Charles) Scruggs of Bethpage; sons, Steve (Brenda) Robertson of Lafayette, Gordon (Daisy) Robertson of Westmoreland; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Carter, Wanda Johnson, Norris Hammock, all of Westmoreland, Sarah Escue and Judy (Slim) Hughes, both of Bethpage; brothers, Kenneth (Jean) Adcock of Bethpage, Aaron (Sue) Adcock of Westmoreland.  She is preceded in death by her husband, J. B. (Buddy) Robertson; parents, James Louis and Sarah Norris Adcock; son, Calvin Wayne Robertson; brothers, Leonard, Raymond and Earl Louis Adcock.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Monday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Dean Linville officiating.  Interment is at Bradley Cemetery in Bethpage.  Mrs. Robertson retired from General Electric Corporation and was a volunteer at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
Edward Allen Shrum, age 79, of Castalian Springs, passed away Friday, January 15, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his son, Gary (Ladonna) Shrum of Cornelus, N.C.; daughter, Darlene Lynn (Jessie) of Westmoreland; brothers, Jessie Shrum of Westmoreland, Dewey (Linda) Shrum of Gallatin; sisters, Louise Vantrease of Westmoreland, Lucille (Dink) Thompson of Westmoreland, Betty Ann (Jim) Gregory of Portland, Gail (Pat) Eller of Westmoreland; grandsons, Robert and Matt Shrum; granddaughters, Angel (Scott) Moran, Krista (Tony) Scruggs, Roxanne Jenkins (J.R.) Dunlap.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John Allen and Lillian Thompson Shrum; brother, Cecil Shrum; sister, Frances Earlene Shrum.  Visitation is 3 p.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, and 11 a.m., until service time Sunday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Tracye Michelle Smith, age 44, of Lafayette, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, at her residence.  She is survived by her husband, Harley Smith of Lafayette; mother, Judy Puckett of Gallatin; son, Joshua McGee of Lafayette; daughter, Stacie Johnson Parker of Gallatin; sister, Stephanie Castle of New Hampshire; brothers, Scott Jones of Bedford, S.C., Ricky Galloway of Florida; eight step grandchildren.  Visitation is 3 p.m., until 9 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Tuesday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Thelma Dean Thomason, age 71, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Thomason of Westmoreland; daughters, Gail (Bob) Raybourn of Clarksville, Patricia (Les) Roberts of Lafayette, Tina (Chris) Carter Thomason of Hendersonville; son, Fredrick Thomason of Westmoreland; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Cassie Green of Gallatin, Edith Warren of Rossville, Ga., Ann Mungle of Hartsville; brothers, Jack Satterfield of Lafayette, Ray Satterfield of Lebanon.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Mary Cannon Satterfield; son, Kenneth Dale Thomason; brother, Roy Satterfield; sister, Eva Mae Davis.  Visitation is 3 p.m., until 7 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2010, 1 p.m., until 7 p.m., Saturday, and 9 a.m., until service time Sunday.  Funeral service is 1 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Guthrie Gregory officiating.  Interment is at Eulia Cemetery.  Mrs. Thomason was a dedicated, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a housewife.
Betty Joyce Williams, age 59, of Westmoreland, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Lois Tuttle Williams of Westmoreland; sister, Diane Thorton of Livingston, Tenn.; brothers, Glenn (Virginia) Williams of Westmoreland, Harold Williams of Lebanon, Tenn., Mike (Denise) Williams of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Mark Williams of Westmoreland, Ricky Williams of Cross Plains, Tenn.  She is  preceded in death by her father, O.C. Williams.  Visitation is 4 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, and 10 a.m., until service time Sunday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Guthrie Thompson and Bro. Guthrie Gregory officiating.  Interment is at Sumner Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers are Terry Tuttle, Earl Ralph Templeton, Randell Templeton, Danny Williams, Bobby West and David Brown.  Honorary pallbearers are Lucas Williams, Matthew Williams and Colby Williams.  Mrs. Williams was employed at Mike’s Food Value in Westmoreland.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Westmoreland Food Bank.
