Roberta Troutt Akins, age 88, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.   She is survived by her sons, David Akins of Bowling Green, Ky., Wayne Akins of Bethpage, Mike (Peggy) Akins of Westmoreland; sister, Maidelle Bell of Westmoreland; brothers, Carl (Christina) Troutt of Gallatin, Ramie (Glenda) Troutt of Westmoreland; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Smiley and Lolar Perry Troutt; husband, Paul Moore Akins; son, Lloyd Neal Akins; sisters, Mary Lou Troutt, Myrtle Troutt, Minnie Norris Ray, Dean McClard, JoAnn Born; brothers, Leroy Troutt, Jack Troutt, Cantrell Troutt, Eugene Troutt.  Visitation is 6 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2010, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene May officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.  Mrs. Akins was retired a retired nurse and worked at Highland Hospital and Sumner Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Providence General Baptist Church.

Ernest Blackwell, age 65, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his son, Tony (Cynthia) Blackwell of Westmoreland; sister, Elizabeth Rickert of Anderson, S.C.; brother, Richard Blackwell of Clinton, S.C.; grandchildren, Destiny Blackwell of Westmoreland, Cody Blackwell of Westmoreland, Jacob Blackwell of Westmoreland.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest E. and Agnes Green Blackwell; son, Michael Glenn Blackwell; grandson, Michael Keith Blackwell.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. James Carline Boren, age 80, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Macon County General Hospital. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Dodson of Westmoreland, Phylis Graves of Westmoreland, Debbie Hite of Westmoreland, Connie Hall of Bethpage, Linda Livesay of Houston, Tex.; sister, Virginia Summers of Westmoreland; brother, Johnny Boren of Westmoreland; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anna Perry Boren; parents, James Edgar and Velvie Bell May Boren. Visitation is 1 p.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Sunday, and 10 a.m., until service time Monday. Mr. Boren served his country and retired from the U.S. Navy. He also retired from Armstrong Tire.

Raymond “Ray” Bradley, age 86, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010. He is survived by his sons, Claude (Phyllis) Bradley of Westmoreland, Richard “Dicky” (Shirley) Bradley of Gallatin; daughters, Margaret (Bill) Lawson of Westmoreland, Mary Sue (Bobby) Hill of Westmoreland; sister, Frances Mallory of Portland; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Hammock Bradley (married 1946); parents, William and Matilda Choate Bradley; brothers, Winford and Delbert Bradley; sisters, Maxine Roberts and Earlene Moore. Visitation is 2 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m., until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Woodard Funeral Home.  A Masonic service is scheduled at 7 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010, from Woodard Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2010, from Union Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. David Simmons and Bro. Phil Brown officiating. Interment is at Rippy Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers are Charlie Downs, Robert Hill, Seth Wilder, James Bradley, Shawn Moore, Waylon Nixon and Bill Lawson. Mr. Bradley was a member and deacon of Union Chapel Baptist Church. He was a United States war veteran and served in World War II in the Pacific. He retired from Hardaway Construction Company. He was a member of the Trammel Lodge No. 436 F.& A.M. since 1975.

William T. (Billy) Brown, age 74, of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Lee Brown of Westmoreland; daughters, Janet Keen of Portland, Joanie Brown of Bethpage, Carla Walker of Chicago, Ill., Billie Joe Graves of Westmoreland; sister, Jean (Willie) Leduc of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Jamie and Jolene Deville, Brian Edens, Michael Graves, Tara and Nicole McDonald. He is preceded in death by his father, Lowell Brown; daughter, Rhonda Morales; son, David Brown; granddaughter, Ariel Morales; grandson, Kevin Eidson; five great grandchildren. Visitation is 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2010, and after 10 a.m., Saturday. Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Mr. Brown was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam era.

Virginia Frances Cagle, age 81, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Tonya Ramage of Westmoreland, Don and Sue Ramage of Seattle, Wash. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earlin and Emma Harrison Lambert; brothers, Bob and Bill Lambert. Visitation is 2 p.m., until 9 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2010, and after 9 a.m., Monday. Nicky Ray Carter, age 37, of Westmoreland, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his residence.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Ruth Cannon Carter of Westmoreland; brothers, Ronald (Christina) Carter of Westmoreland, Mickey (Louise) Carter of Miami, Fla., Rocky (Betty) Carter of Westmoreland.  He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Hudson.  Visitation is 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Lana Jane Caruthers, age 59, of Westmoreland, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, in Nashville, Tenn.  She is survived by her parents, Billy Ray and Norma Taylor Caruthers of Westmoreland; sister, Jill (Mike) Troutt of Westmoreland; nephew, Will (Brandi) Troutt of Westmoreland; great niece, Avery Grace Troutt of Westmoreland.  Visitation is 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Friday.  Funeral service is 3 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. She retired from the State of Tennessee Transportation Department.

Larry Wayne Cates, age 69, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his sister, Carol (Don) Wilkerson Westmoreland; several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernie T. and Vangie Lee Angela Cates; brothers, Leon Cates, Collins Cates, Billy Cates, Jimmy Cates, Thomas Cates, Donald Cates, John Lewis Cates and Harold Cates; sisters, Frances White and Minnie Troutt.  Visitation is 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, and 10 a.m., until service time Sunday.  Funeral service is 3 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Key officiating.  Interment is at New Hope Cemetery.  Mr. Cates serviced his country in the U.S. Marines, and he retired from Chrysler Corporation after having worked for a number of years.

Infant Leland Cole Chance, age 10 months, of Bethpage, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010.  He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Lori Chance of Bethpage; brothers, Justin Chance of Cottontown, Austin Entrekin of Lebanon, Johnathon Chance of Cottontown, Daniel Bailey of Portland, Daniel Chance, Jr., of Bethpage; sisters, Trystan Counts of Jasper, Tenn., Jasmine Chance of Cottontown, Trinity Chance of Bethpage; grandparents, Leland (Teresa) Follin, Jr., of Oklahoma; great grandmothers, Alice Vasques of Portland, Sarah Follin of Mississippi, Amarilla Rowland of Gallatin.  Visitation is 12 noon until 1:45 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Woodard Funeral Home.  Graveside service is 2 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Bro. Cecil Marty Cherry, age 53, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at University Medical Center.  He is survived by his brother, Carl Matthews of Riverview, Fla.; aunts, Mae Moss of Westmoreland, Rose Huntsman of Lafayette.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Lee Hughes Cherry.  Visitation is 11 a.m., until service time, Sunday, January 31, 2010.  Funeral service is 4 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Junior Hughes officiating.  Interment is at Caldwell Cemetery.  Mr. Cherry retired from Brandywood Nursing Home.

Betty Jean Sadler Clark, age 75, of Westmoreland, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Elaine Tuttle of Little Shute, Wisc.; son, Randy Lynn Clark of Portland; sisters, Nadine Jenkins of Frankfort, Ind., Annie Jane Graham of Smyrna, Tenn., Peggy Jo McRugg of Franklin, Ky., Wanda Sue Blankenship of Smyrna, Tenn.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Woodrow Clark; parents, Louis Pat and Erma Lee Perry Sadler; sister, Willie Mae McClanhan; brothers, James Sadler, Lloyd Sadler and Wesley Sadler. Johnny Lee Cline, age 53, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010.  He is survived by his mother, Virgie Mae Brown of Westmoreland; brothers, Bobby Cline of Westmoreland, Robbie Cline of Westmoreland, Billy Cline of Ashland City, Timmy (Gail) Cline of Lafayette. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Junior Cline. Visitation is after 12 noon, Monday, June 7, 2010. Betty Jean Crook Cook, age 66, of Bethpage, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010. (Heather) Freeman of Bethpage; sisters, Lillian (Junior) Galbraith of Gallatin, Ozzie (Prentice) Thompson of Bethpage, Reba Smith of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Brandy, Brittany, Whitney, Ashley and Jade; great grandchild, Lanie; several nieces and nephews. Charles Randell Duffer, Sr., age 55, of Westmoreland, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital. He is survived by his mother, Mary Frances Duffer of Westmoreland; daughters, Angela Trulock of Scottsville, Ky., Candi Lynch of Bowling Green, Ky., Jennifer Donavon of Westmoreland; sons, Marcus Duffer and Charles Randell Duffer, Jr., of Westmoreland; brothers, Richard and Gary Duffer of Westmoreland; sisters, Susan McArthur of Gallatin, Delica Duffer of Symrna, Ga.; grandchildren, Raelynn Donavon and Andy Duffer. Hallie Mai McDole Durham, age 100, of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mabel McDole; special cousin, Nadine McKinney; special friends at Morningside and Brandywood Golden Living Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Murray and Mallie Harris McDole; husband, Charles William (Jack) Durham; sisters, Annie Bentle, Dulcie Lambert, Evon Curtis, Cleo Brown; brothers, Garland McDole, Graidon McDole. Thomas M. Ferguson, age 88, of Westmoreland, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010. He is survived by his son, Mark Ferguson of Westmoreland; daughter, Melody Cooke of Westmoreland; son-in-law, Reece Cooke of Westmoreland; sisters, Reba Ferguson of Nashville, Rebecca Ferguson of Nashville, Freida Petty of Hendersonville; brother, Bill Ferguson of Birmingham, Ala. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ann Newman Ferguson; parents, Andrew Vantrease and Hazel Bethel Ferguson; brothers, James E. Ferguson, Harold D. Ferguson and Glenn Andrew Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Tasha Hartigan Garcia of Adolphus, Ky.; daugther, Hannah Garcia of Adolphus, Ky.; mother and step-father, Donna Kimbrell and Alvin Sutton of Goodlettsville; father, Darrell Melton of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Pam Melton of Adolphus, Ky.; brothers, Raymond Melton of Westmoreland, Anthony Melton of Westmoreland, Josh Hartigan of Adolphus, Ky.; sisters, Ashley Carroll of Westmoreland, Christine Garcia of Springfield, Julie Hartigan of Adolphus, Ky. Esble Walton Harper, age 84, of Bethpage, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Memphis Baptist Hospital.  She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Dupas of Bethpage, Sandy Slaven of New Orleans, La., Glenda Butler of Bethpage; granddaughter, Cindy Glover of New Orleans, La.; great granddaughter, Star Glover of New Orleans, La.; numerous extended family members.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence S. and Effie Dyer Walton; first husband, Robert R. Jerry Lee Harrison, age 66, of Chapel Hill, Tenn., formerly of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010. He is survived by his sisters, Jo (Eddie) Jones of Westmoreland, Patricia Lones of Red Boiling Springs; half sister, Brenda Wix of Westmoreland; half brothers, Allen (Joann) Akin of Brentwood, Mike (Vicki) Akin of Chapel Hill. He is preceded in death by his parents, T.B. Harrison and Orilla Akin Harrison; brothers, Jimmy D. Harrison and Bobby Neal Harrison. Graveside service is 3 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Siloam Cemetery with interment following.

Heilon Kepley, age 79, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Geraldine Rich Kepley of Portland; daughter, Betty Jo Kepley of Portland; grandson, John (Brook) Kepley of Nashville; granddaughter, Amanda (Nathan) Fuller of Westmoreland; great grandchildren, Zoey Fuller, Matthew Fuller, Sloane Kepley; brother, Willard (Sadie) Kepley of Franklin, Ky.; sister, Virginia (Eugene) Garrett of Pozeyville, Ind.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Moore and Gladys Irene Mayhew Kepley; son, Dana Kepley.  Visitation is 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010, 9 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday,. and 8 a.m., until service time Saturday.  Funeral service is 10 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Fannie Sue Brown Leath, age 81, of Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at her residence.  She is survived by her daughters, Cherry Creasy of Gallatin, Debra Donahoe of Westmoreland; sons, Bobby Troutt of Westmoreland, Billy Duffer of Castalian Springs; brothers, E.C. Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Billy Brown of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Nellie Gray Angel Brown; husband, Billy Augusta Leath; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Carter, Marie Fleming; brother, Junior Brown.  Visitation is 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010, and 9 a.m., until service time Wednesday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Meador, age 75, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Eva M. Kepley Meador of Westmoreland; daughters, Wanda Linder of Gallatin, Patty Johnson of Scottsville, Ky., Sandra Fisher of Hartsville; son, Terry Meador of Westmoreland; sister, Katie Trisdale of Hartsville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vena Thompson Meador; sisters, Mable Daniels and Ruby Williams; brothers, Jessie Meador and Dean Meador; grandchild, Justin Fisher. Mr. Meador was employed as the Director of Training and retired as a Truck Driver Instructor.

Carolyn Sue Morrow, age 59, of Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at her residence. Melvin Niziolek, age 78, of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Hendersonville Medical Center. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Jones of Westmoreland, Gayle Freeman of Fruitport, Mich.; sons, Scott Niziolek of Illinois, Wade Niziolek of Charolettsville, Va., Cary Niziolek of Charolettsville, Va.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rose Barren Niziolek; sons, Mark and Todd Niziolek. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or service. Disposition of remains is by cremation. Mr. Niziolek was born to the late Peter and Rose Barren Niziolek in Alma Park, Illinois. He retired as a telephone engineer. He served his country in the U.S. Marines.

Ricky Wayne Woodard, age 55, of Westmoreland, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Judy Elaine Jiles Woodard of Westmoreland; daughter, Nicole Woodard Graves of Westmoreland; granddaughter, Kalista Graves of Westmoreland; brother, Larry (Josie) Woodard of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Smith of Gallatin, Linda (Calvin) Collins of Gallatin, Doris (Edward) Smith of Bethpage, Karen (Chubby) Simons of Westmoreland, Janice Stinson of Westmoreland; mother-in-law, Frances Jiles of Westmoreland. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Fran Woodard; parents, H.E. and Nellie Woodard; brother, Buddy Woodard; father-in-law, Hubert Jiles; uncles, C.C. Woodard and Charles Woodard. Ricky Woodard lived most all of his life in Westmoreland. He graduated from Westmoreland High School. He married Judy Jiles, and they were to celebrate their 34th anniversary on June 25, 2010. They had two children, Holly, who departed this life as a toddler, and Nicole Woodard Graves; and one granddaughter, Kalista, who really brought the twinkle to his eyes. After the death of his daughter Holly, he was encouraged to pursue a service to bereaved loved ones because of the special gift he had. Like his father-in-law, the late Hubert Jiles, Ricky had desired to one day be able to own something of his own. For more than 30 years, Ricky worked for funeral homes in Westmoreland and Gallatin and earned his funeral director’s license in 1992. In 1994, Ricky came home to work as director and manager of the newly built funeral home of Anderson and Goad. In 1996, he became part owner of the funeral home. Then, in March 2006, Ricky and Judy purchased Woodard Funeral Home, Inc., which became a locally owned and operated business; and a dream became a reality, which was received and supported well by the community. Ricky was the owner, director, and manager of Woodard Funeral Home, Inc., was a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce, served as Mayor for the Town of Westmoreland for 10 years and was in City Government for 22 years, and he served on numerous boards and committees. He was a member of the Westmoreland Rotary, Westmoreland Lions Club and Westmoreland High School Advisory Board. Ricky contributed greatly to the City of Westmoreland, Sumner County and his Community, and he will be greatly missed by all.
