Doris Marie Smith

Doris Marie Woodard Smith, age 70, passed away November 10, 2021 peacefully at her home with her daughter, as she would have wanted.

She was born February 21, 1951 in Carthage, TN to the late Hugh Edward and Nellie Woodard of Westmoreland, TN.

Mrs. Smith spent her career as a very devoted nursing assistant. She worked for several years at Sumner Regional Medical Center in their Transitional Care Unit. She also worked for Care All as a home health aide, caring for many clients in Sumner and Macon counties. Caring for others was her number one passion in life.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Chris (Anne) Sherrell of Lafayette, TN; daughter, Tonia Sherrell of Westmoreland, TN; son Joey (Barbara) Sherrell of Westmoreland, TN; and son Nathaniel Piper of Westmoreland, TN; grandchildren, Lauren Sherrell of Indianapolis, IN; Whitney Morris of Gallatin, TN; Dylan (Jasmine) Sherrell of Portland, TN; Baylee (Chase) Akins of Westmoreland, TN; Landen (Summer) Keen of Westmoreland, TN; Kaylyn Sherrell of Portland, TN; Colby Warner of Westmoreland, TN; Kimberly Johns of Westmoreland, TN; and Cody Troutt of Lafayette, TN; her great-grandchildren, Knox Holland of Gallatin, TN; Leighton, Jaxxton and Kashton Sherrell of Portland, TN; Kai Gregory of Portland, TN; Lincoln Keen of Westmoreland, TN; and Harper Akins of Westmoreland, TN.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, David Lee Sherrell; husband, Luther Edward Smith; and her brothers, Buddy and Ricky Woodard.

Serving as pallbearers are her nephews,Tony Owen, Stacey Woodard, Kevin Woodard, CJ Simons, Sandon Stinson and Tim Poore.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Smith will be conducted on Saturday, November 13 at 1 :00 PM from the Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sulphur Fork Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 12 at 1:00 - 8:00 PM and on Saturday at 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM service time.
