Eld. Guthrie Thompson

Elder Guthrie Thompson, age 86 of Bethpage, TN, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017.

Funeral Services for Eld. Thompson will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Watson and Bro. Pat Eller officiating. Interment will follow in Bradley Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Woodard Funeral Home.

Eld. Thompson was saved by the grace of God in the summer of 1955. He was called to preach and then ordained to the full work of the ministry on December 11, 1960. He was a member of Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church where is was currently pastoring. He also pastored Rough Hill, Pleasant Hill, KY, Pleasant Grove, Town Creek, Siloam, New Harmony, Goodwill, New Zion, Friendship and Brattontown Missionary Baptist Churches. Bro. Guthrie always said, "I promise the Lord I would wear my body out for Him." and he did. He is now in that Country Where People Don't Die as he always loved to sing about.

He worked hard to provide for his family. He worked at Genesco Shoe Company, as a security guard at Vol-State, as a school bus driver for Sumner County Board of Education, and as a life-long farmer.

Grand Child - Matthew Thompson, Antioch, TN
Grand Child - Justin Thompson ( Aleisha), Adolphus, KY
Grand Child - Noah Thompson, Bethpage, TN
Great Grand Child - Case Thompson, Adolphus, KY
Sister - Frances Woodard, Westmoreland, TN
Sister - Erma Glades Todd, Lafayette, TN
Sister - Marie Akin (Roger), Gallatin, TN
and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
