Frank Junior Gregory

May 21, 1925 — December 4, 2020

Frank Junior Gregory, age 95, of Westmoreland, passed away on December 4, 2020.

When life down here is finished: And I cross the Great Divide; I’ll be free from all sorrows; When I reach the other side; My treasures are up yonder; In a land of perfect love; I know God holds the thread of life; For I can feel the tug.

Junior felt that tug as he left the bonds of earth and went home to be with the Lord on Friday night, December 4th, 2020 at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 13 days.

Frank Junior Gregory was born 21 May 1925 in Macon County, Tennessee, the fourth of ten children born to the late James Lawson and Zella Rebecca (Harrison) Gregory.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters; Edna Akins and Wilma Jewell Gregory and 5 brothers; Rev. Woodrow, Herley, Burford, Gordon and Melvin “Bud” Gregory.

On August 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hammock, spending over 74 years together.

Having spent his entire life attending Eulia General Baptist Church, and getting saved as a young man, he united with the church on July 14, 1947 along with his wife, Mary Jo and remained a faithful member for more than 73 years. He was ordained as a deacon on September 23, 1962 and served the church in that capacity for more and 58 years.

Junior loved to play the guitar and sing. When growing up, he and is brothers and sister spent many hours playing music together and singing for the family. He loved gospel music and over the years sung in groups including the Eulia-airs, the Golden Tones and the Happy Hearts.

Junior spent many years of his life as a carpenter and also farming. He enjoyed having a big garden every year.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; 1 sister, Betty Haskins and 1 brother, Thomas Gregory. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly as well as many, many friends.

We believe if Junior could leave a message for everyone, it would be from a song that he sung often.

“Thank God for what I feel inside, I know my God is real, I can feel His tug from Heaven above, My hungry soul he fills, He gave his only son to die, A ransom; O what love, I know God holds the thread of life for I can feel the tug”
