Obituary

George Leonard Lotito (Joe), 77, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, passed away suddenly at his home, with his trusted dog Gia at his side, on May 9, 2026.

Joe was born in Landover, Maryland, on June 28, 1948, to the late George and Christine Lotito. He joined the United States Navy at 17 and served three honorable years as a Boatswain's Mate 1st Class. After his service, he married and moved his family back to D.C., where he worked building the new Metro. Later, starting a new life, he moved to Tennessee in 1977 and married Susan McFarland in 1983. His son, Ryan McFarland Lotito, was born in Hendersonville on June 14, 1985. Thus followed a lifetime career in home building with his own framing company. His second love was coaching Little League, basketball, and girls' softball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ryan McFarland Lotito, in 2001, and his sister, Terry Twardesky, in 2025.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Lotito Holmes, and her husband, James, and her two children, Zachary and Charlotte Sanford; mother of his son Ryan, Susan McFarland; his sister, Pat Kirkpatrick, and her husband, Maury Dube; a niece, Kelly Beckstead, and her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Lily; a nephew, Kevin Kirkpatrick, and his daughter, Emma; his nephew, Jason Oldenburg (Flavia), and their children, Ben and Jake; Justin Oldenburg; and Stacey Buckhaults (Chad) and children Kai, Kenzie, and Tristen. He also leaves behind his extended family, the Vincents. They loved him, and he loved them. They were the best neighbors and provided him with a lifeline when things were tough. He will be missed by all.

The family has entrusted Woodard Funeral Home with the care of their loved one.  "Serving you as we would like to be served."
