James "Jamie" Brandon Sloan

October 27, 1980 — April 22, 2026

Westmoreland

James "Jamie" Brandon Sloan of Westmoreland, TN passed away quietly at home on April 22, 2026.

Jamie was born on October 27, 1980 to Lisa Jane Sloan (Butler) and Thomas "Tommy" Chipman. He was then brought home and raised in Westmoreland where he spent most of his life racing a car or motorcycle down every road this small town had to offer him.

Jamie grew up either under the hood of a car or behind the wheel of one which helped make him one of the best mechanics any body could ever need. He could make anything run 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds even if it didn't have a motor.

He spent the last part of his life as the head mechanic of Caldwell Trucking in Gallatin, TN.

Jamie is preceded in death by Great-Grandparents, Aubry and Hattie Sloan. Grand Parents, Georgie Wilford and Ruby Evelyn Sloan. Nephew, Caleb Brandon Presley and the mother of his children, Lisa Machelle Warren.

In this life he has left, with love, his wife of 10 years, Carmen Lynn Sloan, his Children, Jerica Faith Sloan (Daniel Blankenship) and Anthony Donnell Sloan, his Mother Lisa Jane Sloan (Butler), Sisters, Ashley Nicole Morris and Dallas Layne Smith. Nephews, Cayden Bradley Morris and Avery Lance West and Niece, Addison Nicole Carter. Also missing him are grandsons Renlynn, Ryker, and Rylan Owen. Each one of Westmoreland.

Throughout his life he also gained many friends that will miss him dearly.

Beyond his family and friends, Jamie loved fishing and hunting and driving anything with a steering wheel and some things without. He always spent time tinkering with whatever he could get his hands on and was always so proud to show off whatever he was coming up with to everyone he could and had a soundtrack for anything he did and the life he lived.

Most of all, Jamie could make you laugh. The kind of laughter that always came out of nowhere and you couldn't even begin to guess what he would say next. The kind of laughter only he could make happen.

Jamie was clever beyond his own good and smart enough to do nothing but get himself in trouble but somehow he always got himself out of it because he's the kind of special that you only get to experience once in your life and some people not at all.

To know Jamie is to know beauty beyond comparison. Beauty passed down through generations of love, even through storms of teeth and claws, that culminated into a beautiful life that has melted with all of ours and shown us a side of this life that most couldn't even begin to dream about. A light and bright side that glowed through even when the darkness had no end. He would never lie about the darkness but the laughter he created made the darkness seem a little less heavy.

In the words of Augustus "Gus" McCrae from his favorite movie Lonesome Dove, "By God, Woodrow; it's been one hell of a party."

How lucky we are to have been invited.
