Mary Jo Gregory

August 14, 1930 — December 8, 2020

Mary Jo Hammock Gregory, 90, of Westmoreland, TN, passed away on December 8, 2020.

Proverbs 31: 10, 25, 30 “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that fearth the Lord, she shall be praised.

Mary Jo’s time to rejoice came on Tuesday night, December 8th, 2020 when she was called to her eternal home at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 24 days, ,just 4 days after her husband, Junior was called home.

Mary Jo (Hammock) Gregory was born 14 August 1930 in Macon Co., Tennessee, the youngest of five daughters born to the late James Thomas and Virgie Mae (Spears) Hammock.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Junior Gregory, and sisters, Thelma Farley Lambert, Avalene Sloan, Dorothy Sloan, and Willie Mae Scruggs.

On August 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to her husband, Frank Junior Gregory, spending over 74 years together.

Mary Jo was saved at an early age and united with Eulia General Baptist on July 14, 1947 along with her husband, Junior, and remained a faithful member for more than 73 years until God called her home.

Mary Jo worked for many years at Genesco Shoe Factory in Gallatin and later worked at GE in Hendersonville until she retired. Not one to want to just retire, after leaving GE, she went to school and got her GED. Upon receiving her GED, she began to substitute teach, mostly at Westside Elementary and she so enjoyed being around the children.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly and well as many, many friends.
