Michael Allen Petty

April 4, 1954 — September 11, 2022

Michael Allen Petty, 68, of Westmoreland, TN passed from this life on Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at his residence. The Scottsville, Kentucky native was born to the late Ottis Eugene Petty, Sr. and Barbara Nell Rippy Petty on April 4th 1954. He graduated Scottsville High School in 1972, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a retired Boilermaker Welder and Plant Operations foreman for TVA and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He gave his heart and life to Jesus on August 8th, 1994. 


He is survived by his wife of 46 years Lana Kaye Petty, three daughters: Rhonda Hunter (Steve) of Franklin, KY; Ashley Miller (Brian) of Scottsville, KY; and Cortney Kingrey (Mackie) of Gallatin, TN. He was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren: Sierra, Corey (JoBeth), Ellie, Tyler, Emma and Landon and 6 great-grandchildren: Bryce, Avery, Dax, Bodey, Madelyn and Ace. 


He is survived by two sisters Sheila Crowder (Danny) of Scottsville, KY and Robin Petty of Red Boiling Springs, TN. Other family members include: two brothers-in-law Bruce Talbott (Levata), Dean Talbott (Sue), two sisters-in-law Pam Acklin (Gary deceased), Brenda Williams (Larry) all of Scottsville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. 


He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ottis Eugene Petty, Jr. (Gail who survives), his father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Bonnie Talbott and two sisters-in-law Gay Nell Stovall (Dwight) and Ann Talbott.


Funeral Services for Mr. Petty will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 at 2 :00 PM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Patrick and Bro. Keith Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Allen County Memorial Gardens, Scottsville, KY.  Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Petty, Philip Talbott, Derrick Harwood, James Dean Talbott, Devin Stovall, Daniel Talbott, Eric Williams and Dusty Stovall.  Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Crowder, Dean Talbott, Larry Dale Williams, Bruce Wayne Talbott and Dwight Stovall.


Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to service time at 2:00 PM.
