Rev. David Akins, Sr.

Rev. David Carroll Akins, Sr. , age 76 of Bowling Green, KY. & Native of Westmoreland TN. passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016. Funeral services for Rev. Akins will be conducted: Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Woodard Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Eulia Cemetery. Visitation will be: Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 from 10:00 AM to service time at 2:00 PM at Woodard Funeral Home.

During his life, Rev. Akins pastored at many locations including New Liberty in Gamaliel Ky., Hollis Chapel in Portland TN., New Hope in Pontiac Michigan, and Madison Ave. in Bowling Green Ky. In high school he served as Vice President of the Westmoreland FFA chapter from 1957-1958. He was a member of the Sacred 5 Quartet, and acted in “The Best Christmas Pageant” A play in Bowling Green Ky. He helped to set up WEEN Radio Station in Lafayette TN. and served as a moderator for the Portland General Baptist Association.

Son - David & (Karen) Akins, Jr., Franklin , KY,
Daughter - Cindy (Tommy) Akins Smalling, Franklin , KY,
Grandchildren - Kristin Akins Thomas, Drew Akins, Jackie Summers, Brad Perry, and Derek Perry,
Brothers - Wayne Akins, Westmoreland, TN, and Mike (Peggy) Akins, Westmoreland, TN,
Also numerous nieces and nephews.
